Unique Engagement Ideas – Proposal Inspiration

There are not many experiences in life that are equal parts amazing and nerve wracking at the same time. Asking someone to spend the rest of their life with you is like starting a new book with empty pages. The story of your engagement will be the start of a beautiful story, hopefully with many more happy stories to follow. The nerve wracking part of getting engaged is usually thinking of the best way to surprise your significant other. All couples are unique, and proposals are usually planned with someone’s specific personality and taste in mind. Some couples may prefer to discuss the general idea before the big day or night, while others prefer to keep it a complete surprise. If you’re looking for inspiration, read on for some unique engagement ideas.

Thinking of ways to propose to the love of your life can make anyone nervous. Being prepared will make sure you feel at ease and confident when you get down on one knee.

Consider Your Personality…

It’s a no brainer that you’ll want to incorporate something your future spouse will love when you’re thinking of ways to propose. It’s also important to consider your own personality as well though! Your partner fell in love with you for many reasons, and will be expecting a part of you to shine through in that special moment. Whether you love going over the top to surprise the one you love, or a more quiet and personal plan is more your style, here are a few ideas to help get the creative juices flowing:

  • What is most important to you? Most likely something that means a lot to you will also mean something to your future life partner too! Staying true to your own personality while also considering your future spouse’s will be key to planning a great proposal.
  • How did you ask your partner out originally? Is this something you can work into your engagement plan? This could be an activity you both did together on your first date, or a special place you took them to, etc.
  • Is there a special place, venue, or particular scenery that has sentimental value to you? Choosing a place that you cherish is a great starting point, as you can always add a special touch to your plans that incorporates something important to your significant other as well.

And Your Spouse To Be!

Now it’s time to think about your future spouse! After you’ve considered how to incorporate your own personal touch into your engagement plan, you’ll want to figure out how to make it personal for your partner as well. This might actually end up being the easy part, believe it or not! You’re most likely feeling the love between yourself and your significant other as you work through planning ways to propose, which can make the ideas flow more freely. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Think of all the reasons you love your significant other. Is there something about them that stands out to you? For example, if you love that your partner is very family oriented, maybe getting their family involved in your proposal would be a great way to surprise them.
  • What does your other half like to do in their free time? Reading books, playing a sport, being active and working out, or even playing a video game are all unique things you can work into your proposal.
  • How about an idea that ties the two of you together as a couple? Is there a funny inside joke you can use as part of the plan? If you can think of a funny situation the two of you experienced together, this can also make for a funny and heartfelt proposal for the both of you.

Marriage proposal ideas don’t have to be public and extravagant. They can be personal and private if that’s what you both prefer!
