How to Get Married in Vegas

In October 9, 2017

You’ve seen plenty of movies about it, but have you ever wondered how to get married in Vegas? We don’t mean as a silly joke, but legally married. It isn’t quite as easy as the movies make it seem, so you’ll want to make sure you have some time to prepare. From getting the marriage license to finding a chapel, here are the steps you’ll need to take in order to be happily married in Vegas.

First and foremost, make sure you are in possession of a government-issued ID card such as a license or state ID card, social security card, and either an original copy or government-certified copy of your birth certificate. If you have been married before but have since legally ended the marriage, you will also be required to know the month, day, and year as well as city and state of your finalized divorce. You will need these documents in order to apply for a marriage license either online or in person at the Clark County Marriage Bureau. Applying online for a marriage license in Clark County, where Las Vegas is located, will help you save some time. After you submit your application online, you will have 60 days to go to the Clark County Marriage Bureau to present your documents. You will receive your marriage license immediately after presenting the required documents and paying the $77 fee. There are no blood tests required when applying for a Las Vegas marriage license, but you must be at least 18 years old.

Getting married in Vegas can be less hassle than a formal ceremony, and sometimes more fun!

Once you have your marriage license, all that is left to do is pick out an outfit and find a chapel! A simple search online for Las Vegas wedding chapels will give you venue options such as the famous Graceland Wedding Chapel, Chapel of the Flowers or the Little White Wedding Chapel. While most chapels offer a wide range of wedding packages that typically start around $100, some packages can cost upward of $10,000! After you’ve selected the chapel and have had your ceremony, the chapel that performed the ceremony has 10 days to file the marriage certificate with Clark County. Once they have done this, you can easily purchase a copy of your marriage certificate here.

Now that you know how to get married in Vegas it is time to plan your trip and tell the family and friends you’ll be inviting to save the date! A lifetime of happiness awaits you and your loved one.
