If you are not eligible to receive an authorized copy of the birth certificate, you will receive a certified informational copy with the words "INFORMATIONAL, NOT A VALID DOCUMENT TO ESTABLISH IDENTITY" imprinted across the face of the copy. This document is primarily used for genealogy and cannot be used for identification purposes.
Death Informational Copy
If you are not eligible to receive an authorized copy of the death record, you will receive a certified informational copy with the words "INFORMATIONAL, NOT A VALID DOCUMENT TO ESTABLISH IDENTITY" imprinted across the face of the copy. This document is primarily used for genealogy and cannot be used for legal purposes.
Birth Authorized Copy
An authorized, certified birth certificate copy that can typically be used for travel, passport, proof of citizenship, social security, driver's license, school registration, personal identification and other legal purposes. Birth Certificates are available for events that occurred in Ventura County from 1873 to present.
Death Authorized Copy
An authorized, certified copy of a death record that can typically be used to obtain death benefits, claim insurance proceeds, notify social security and other legal purposes. Death Certificates are available for events that occurred in Ventura County from 1873 to present.
Confidential Marriage Authorized Copy
Copies of confidential marriage records may ONLY be obtained by a party of the marriage, OR by order of the superior court. If you are not a party of the marriage or do not have a court order, you may only receive a written acknowledgement that a marriage took place. All applicants must submit a Sworn Statement and notarized Certificate of Acknowledgment before the order will be processed. Forms and instructions will be provided upon completion of your online order.
Public Marriage Authorized Copy
A certified copy of the marriage certificate. This is not a copy of the marriage license. Marriage records are available for licenses that were issued in Ventura County from 1873 to present.
